The Self Discovery Quest.

Human existence begins like molten glass, pliable and shaped by the intricate hands of family and society. From childhood, moral teachings and social customs weave a complex tapestry around individuals, often obscuring true understanding. The hustle and bustle of life leave little room for contemplation.Yet, with the passage of time comes the unsettling awareness of life's uncertainties. It is here that individuals grapple with the age-old question: How ought one to live? What constitutes an ethical existence? This is when humans recognize their lack of knowledge about leading a good life. Most people are hesitant to accept this ignorance, as Socrates suggested, perhaps because admitting ignorance and embarking on a new journey requires the courage to acknowledge that one's past self and life were inadequatruth.
The first step involves dismantling one's former self, a challenging process often accompanied by frustration towards oneself and the world. Gradually, one realizes that knowledge, and knowledge alone, can provide solutions. This journey leads to the development of a personal value system divergent from what was taught, where ethical standards guide one towards goodness. One certainty about this journey is the inevitability of suffering—not from external sources, but from the internal struggles encountered in the pursuit of truth

Bridging the Left With Indian Philosophy

Bridging the Left with Indian Philosophy Recently, I came across a quote by a renowned author that struck me: " Indian communists never tried to praise the culture of India, while Lenin hailed the Russians as the greatest, and Mao hailed the Chinese as the greatest." As a leftist, I was initially offended by this statement, but upon deeper reflection, I realized there is some truth to it, though not entirely. The question that lingered in my mind for a few moments was: What can this "uncivilized" Indian society, with its millions of divisions in the name of caste and religion, offer? This is the most common perception held by many, especially when one's view is clouded by the blind absorption of European philosophy and culture. As a political science student, our studies initially focused on European philosophical thought rather than Indian political philosophy. Of course, colonialism played a significant role in shaping this approach. However, I want to explore...

Candles with Peace and a Price Tag

Candles with Peace and a Price Tag 🔖 After an exhausting day at the corporate office, I reached out to a friend, feeling the weight of overwork. I expressed that I felt drained, disconnected, and perhaps even alienated. In response, my friend offered simple advice: "Light a candle, play some music, and create the right atmosphere around you. You’ll feel better." Taking her words to heart, I decided to follow her suggestion, hoping to restore some peace to my chaotic day. At first, it seemed like a small act of self-care—lighting a candle, letting soft music fill the room. It was a moment of calm in an otherwise busy life. But as I continued this routine, I began to notice something troubling beneath the surface: this peaceful practice, meant to reconnect me with myself, was part of a broader system where peace comes with a price tag. Aesthetic Capitalism I turned to Spotify to enhance the atmosphere, only to be confronted with a reminder: "Premium account re...

GenZ , Society and Ethics

Have you ever believed that selfishness is justified? I certainly did at one point in my life. It's uncomfortable to reflect on your past self and realize you were misguided. However, the fulfillment that comes from analyzing your past with a new perspective far outweighs the guilt. As a member of Gen Z, I was born into a comparatively liberal and individualistic world, one that has continued to evolve alongside my own personal growth. We, as a generation, often display a tendency to challenge socially accepted values and norms, and in many ways, this is necessary for building a progressive society. Certain injustices, such as caste discrimination or discrimination against women, must be confronted with passion and resolve. However, there are also certain traditions and norms that should be accepted and respected. Often, we perceive society as an obstacle to our individual desires. This raises two important questions: Are we truly aware of the reasons behind some social norms and v...
